Our Program

Bradfield Center is located in LaGrange, Georgia, approximately one hour southwest of Atlanta. The Center affords residential services for up to 45 males, ages 9 to 17, who have experienced trauma related to sexual abuse and, as a result, face behavioral challenges requiring special care. Residents live in a safe, staff-secured setting and attend school on campus at Ault Academy. Mental health services include individual, group, and family therapy.

Who does the Program primarily serve? Males ages 9-17 with a documented history of sexual aggression.

Program Goals

Bradfield Center places an emphasis on creating a positive milieu for residents. Rather than focusing on the negative consequences of an individual’s action and behavior, the Bradfield Center staff attempts to highlight, strengthen, and encourage positive conduct and behavior for our residents. Although inappropriate behaviors are addressed, the focus is placed on attempting to positively reinforce and strengthen pro-social conduct and behavior. At Bradfield, we are about providing second chances, with strong accountability for actions. One unique measure of accountability involves the administration of a polygraph exam where honesty and full disclosure are celebrated. When youth successfully discharge, it is expected that they will have the skills necessary to lead an offense free life.

History

In 1980, Mrs. Click Bradfield and other local leaders established The West Georgia Youth Council, in order to meet a critical need in the community. In 1990, Bradfield Center Campus in LaGrange was created to meet the needs of troubled youth and was originally licensed to serve up to 40 youth from throughout the State of Georgia who suffered from sexual abuse, trauma, severe emotional disturbances, and those exhibiting sexually aggressive behaviors. Today, a program of Twin Cedars Youth and Family Services, Bradfield Center, serves up to 45 male residents who have a documented history of sexual aggression.
