+Care Specialist - Therapeutic Foster Care Columbus

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, sociology or other social services field and two years’ experience in social services working with children and families OR Master’s degree in social services field and one year of related work experience.  Foster care system and/or mental health work experience preferred.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provides comprehensive case coordination for children diagnosed with a range of behavioral health, developmental and medical diagnoses who are placed in therapeutic foster homes.
  2. Takes primary responsibility for overseeing that children’s emotional and mental health needs are being met in the TFC program.
  3. Provides regular technical assistance and support to the Therapeutic Foster Parents in the implementation of the Master Service Plan.
  4. Provides support to the birth families for children served.
  5. Acts as a liaison to community and advocate for provision of services for children.
  6. Provides crisis intervention services and emergency on-call support.
  7. Responsible for documentation, filing and maintenance of child records in accordance with TCYFS policy, licensing and funding source requirements.

+Food Service Employee - Full-time - Bradfield Campus - LaGrange

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED preferred.

One (1) year directly related experience required, preferably in an institutional setting.

Description of Key Responsibilities

Note: Some Food Service Employees may be required to work a flex schedule (evenings and/or weekends or serve as relief support staff).

  1. General Summary: Under close supervision, prepares and cooks or assists in the cooking of food using specialized equipment.  Serves and distributes food.  Cleans kitchen, kitchen equipment, and cafeteria areas.  Performs inventory control duties.

Qualifications

Organizational Relationships and General Description

  • Reports to Assistant Program Director and Maintenance Supervisor
  • Interacts with contractors, visitors and staff

Description of Key Responsibilities

  •  Under close to general supervision, performs simple construction, repairs and preventive maintenance to buildings and related fixtures, hardware, equipment, devices and vehicles. Drives company vehicle to pick up required parts and supplies. Performs assigned grounds maintenance duties.

1. Performs simple carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting and preventive maintenance tasks. Completes simple renovation and construction projects.
2. Maintains fire safety and security systems. Inspects fire safety and security systems on a routine basis. Oversees inspection, maintenance and repair of fire and security systems by licensed contractors.
3. Uses and maintains tools, supplies, materials and equipment in a secure, safe, clean and orderly manner.
4. Responds to routine and emergency requests for repairs and maintenance. Addresses Maintenance Requests within established standard of promptness. Contacts Assistant Director or Maintenance Supervisor regarding emergency situations according to established protocol. Procures required parts and supplies at selected vendors. +Clinical Therapist

Qualifications

  • Masters in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage and Family Therapy from an accredited university
  • Must be eligible for licensure within 3 years of hire date
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with children, adolescents, and families
  • Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team to provide a trauma-informed approach
  • Working knowledge of ethical standards and guidelines in practice as set forth by the state licensing board
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the psychological and emotional factors affecting survivors of abuse/neglect
  • Must be willing to work non-traditional hours
  • Must complete TFCBT training within the first year of employment

 

Organizational Relationships and General Description

  1. Reports to Program Coordinator
  2. Responsible for participating in on-call rotations
  3. Manages day-to-day activities of the Therapy Program
  4. Ensures compliance with program guidelines, protocols, rules, regulations, standards, and statues
  5. Must maintain a minimum of 20 CEU’s annually
  6. Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team composed of members from: the Department of Human Resources, local, state, and federal law enforcement, members from the 5th and 37th judicial circuits, medical and mental health professionals, and intensive in-home service professionals
  7. Interacts with all Twin Cedars Youth Services (TCYS) staff

 

 

 Description of Key Responsibilities

  • Provides research-based mental health services for children and adolescents that meets appropriate standards of practice
  • Conducts thorough biopsychosocial assessments of clients and non-offending caregivers to obtain psychological history, medical background, and mental health status
  • Facilitates therapy for victims referred for counseling
  • Utilizes trauma-research in understanding the long-term impact Adverse Childhood Experiences has on development
  • Applies knowledge of Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Incorporates play activities into therapy when appropriate
  • Develops individualized treatment plans
  • Provides non-offending caregiver consultations regarding their child’s progress on an as needed basis
  • Responsible for following-up with families who express interest in therapy following a Forensic Interview
  • Responsible for maintaining an active caseload of 15-20 clients
  • Stays updated with best practices and latest research regarding the mental health treatment of child victims by attending conferences, workshops, and trainings
  • Establishes a therapeutic setting in which the environment is conducive to meeting the physical, social, and emotional needs of the children we serve

 

  • Responsible for maintaining proper documentation as set forth by professional guidelines
  • Keeps up-to-date and accurate case files and progress notes on all clients
  • Provides DHR with updated client information on cases as requested
  • Obtains signed informed consent and all necessary documentation prior to starting therapy
  • Obtains signed release of information forms prior to collaborating with outside stakeholders
  • Assists in the collection and analysis of all statistical data within the Therapy Program as required by grant funders
  • Reviews and updates treatment plans on a quarterly basis
  • Responsible for the evaluation of the mental health service program to ensure that program goals an objectives are met as stated in grant goals
  • Administers and scores psychological assessments to include but not limited to: The Child Behavior Checklist, UCLAPTSD Index, ACES, etc.

 

  • Provides group therapy for clients on an as needed basis
  • Facilitates group therapy utilizing an evidence-based curriculum
  • Collaborates with the Family Advocate to organize and promote the parent support group for non-offending caregivers
  • Establishes a teen support group

 

  • Actively participates in on-going Therapy Program Development
    • Responsible for the development and administration of evaluation procedures and instruments as necessary to ensure goals and objectives are being met
    • Actively seeks out new therapeutic resources to incorporate in practice
    • Assists in the training and supervision of interns acting in a mental health role
    • Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure they meet National and State standards
    • Actively participates in quarterly peer review meeting

 

  • Serves on respective CAC multi-disciplinary teams during case review process representing the “mental health” discipline.
    • Provides MDT members with relevant updates regarding the child’s progress when appropriate
    • Collaborates with the Victim Service Officers to effectively meet the needs of families on cases that have been referred for prosecution
    • Establishes and maintains ongoing relationships with community partners
    • Actively participates in Lee (37th Judicial Circuit) and Macon (5th Judicial Circuit) county case review meetings
    • Works closely with other members of CAC inter-disciplinary team to review safety goals and objectives, evaluate effectiveness of intervention strategies, and track client progress
    • Educates team members as needed regarding the effects of trauma, child development, grooming, delayed disclosures, and victimology
    • Provides expert testimony in judicial proceedings

 

  • Provide Community Education/Outreach
  • Conducts presentations on topics related to: Mandatory Reporting, Child Maltreatment, Effects of Trauma on Child Development, CAC Overview, CAC Orientation, and others as requested
  • Conducts speaking engagements to educate community members of the mission/vision of the CAC
  • Attends community outreach events to educate and increase community engagement
  • Assists in the planning of Lunch & Learns and Parenting Workshops
  • Actively assists with all CAC fundraising efforts
