Our Program

Program Purpose

Realitybedroom2Reality House is a teen development and step down program for female adolescents ages 14-21. It is designed to offer its participants the experience and opportunities needed to successfully transition from a residential environment to total independence.

About Our Campus

Located in a suburban neighborhood in the northern section of Columbus, Georgia, the facility is situated on a wooded lot and is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath brick home that has been licensed by the Georgia Department of Human Resources to serve up to six residents. Reality House is near the main 14-acre campus of the Anne Elizabeth Shepherd Home and includes a lake, ropes course, garden area, pavilion designed for visitation and special events, picnic area, and basketball courts for recreation and leisure activities.

Who We Serve

Reality House serves female adolescents between the ages of 14-21 who are ready to prepare to reintegrate into the community and become independent.

Our Goals

  • To teach work ethics, volunteerism, and management skills
  • To help residents clarify personal goals
  • To provide personal resources for secondary education
  • To provide a supportive home-like environment while young adults prepare for a successful life

Our History

Reality House opened on November 1, 2001, to serve girls stepping down from our residential programs into a more community-based environment in order to develop independent living skills that they can use when they leave.

Accreditation

As part of Twin Cedars, the Reality House is a member of the Council on Accreditation (COA) and the Multi-Agency Alliance for Children (MAAC).

Special Recognition

Reality House consistently receives scores of ‘A’ from the Office of Provider Management in the areas of Safety, Well-Being, and Permanency.
