Twin Cedars Youth & Family Services has been characterized by a strong tradition of caring for
children dating back to 1845. Our beginning was fueled by the Ladies Educational and
Benevolent Society of Columbus. Their mission, to help needy and orphaned children, built the foundation for The Anne Elizabeth Shepherd Home.
In 1980, The West Georgia Youth Council was created under the leadership of Mrs. Arthur “Click” Bradfield to provide after school activities for at-risk youth in the LaGrange community. In 1993, the two organizations officially merged establishing Twin Cedars Youth Services, Inc. In 2010, our Board of Directors voted to change our name to Twin Cedars Youth & Family Services, Inc.
Today, the Anne Elizabeth Shepherd Home and The Bradfield Center, both flagship operations of TCYS, offer specialized residential care services for sexually traumatized youth, sexually aggressive youth, and severely emotionally disturbed youth. In January of 2009, we welcomed the Georgia Industrial Children’s Home in Macon to our family of residential programs. Our staff also ensures outpatient therapy is provided as necessary.
