TCYFS’ Annette Boyd Group Home serves up to 16 severely emotionally disturbed girls ages 13-17. Residents attend public school and receive outpatient mental health services which include school, group and individual counseling, social skills training, youth development (instead of independent living) delete skill training, educational counseling, leisure and recreational activities, dentist/doctor appointments, home visits, and various activities/events.
The group home milieu emphasizes use of the Positive Peer Culture and community service projects to strengthen residents’ ability to self-govern and help others.
Licensed by the Office of Regulatory Services, the home is a viable alternative to maximum watchful oversight (change) The child-centered, hone style atmosphere, allows youth to safely explore avenues for changing unhealthy or self-defeating behaviors and attitudes. The group home exemplifies Twin Cedars’ mission, “to provide programs and services empowering children, youth and families to achieve optimum potential.”
Eligibility Requirements and Admission considerations:
Female between the ages of 13 and 17
IQ of 70 or above
Physically able to participate in various activities
May be committed to DJJ or DFCS
Children who are in transition from more restrictive placements
Parental referrals/private placements considered
May have a history of emotional, physical, or sexual abuse and or behavioral problems at school, home or in the community
