Children’s Tree House
Children’s Tree House, the Columbus-based Child Advocacy Center facilitates a multidisciplinary approach to the investigation of allegations of child abuse and neglect., provides crisis intervention and counseling for victims and their non-offending family members, and community education and awareness programs for the six-county Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit.
- Videotaped forensic interviews of child abuse victims in a safe, child-friendly facility designed to avoid multiple interviews, reduce the trauma of disclosure, provide an opportunity for all interested parties to observe the interviews, and preserve statement for legal purposes;
- Crisis intervention and emotional support for victims and non-offending family members throughout the investigative and intervention processes;
- Psychotherapy services of up to ten sessions, offered through referral , to help child victims and their non-offending family members begin the healing process;
- Multidisciplinary review of cases by mandated professionals, including law enforcement, child protective services, Office of the District Attorney, mental health services, Victims Assistance, and child advocacy, as well as, Secondary community service representatives as appropriate.
- Provides mandated reported education training for child welfare professionals to raise
awareness of the indicators of child abuse and the actions required of the mandated reporters.
