Children’s Advocacy Center of Troup County

Children’s Advocacy Center of Troup CountyChildren’s Advocacy Centers of Georgia

The Children’s Advocacy Center of Troup County was established in 2003 to serve the abused and neglected children of this county in a safe, healthy, and child-friendly environment. In 2004, the center was awarded full membership status with Children’s Advocacy Centers of Georgia, Inc. (CACGA), the governing body which sets standards and establishes “best practices” for all centers across the state.
The center has two major components
  • A family visitation center where children in the custody of the state visit with their parent(s) while permanency options are reviewed and permanency plans pursued.
  • A child interview room.
The center has two trained and certified on-site forensic interviewers. Forensic interviewers employ non-leading child abuse interviewing techniques which are legally sound and ensure the interviewer’s objectivity. All forensic interviews are recorded and submitted to authorities for investigation and prosecution.
The mission of the CAC is to utilize a multi-disciplinary team approach to child abuse investigations. The CAC provides a safe place in a child-friendly environment for the evaluation of child sexual abuse. The response time to suspected child abuse is enhanced by combining the wisdom and professional knowledge of various investigative agencies and other professionals. These coordinated efforts provide the knowledge, skills and resources to assist suspected child abuse victims and their families. The main focus of the CAC is on the child and helps to ensure that systems designed to protect children are able to do so effectively.
