Angstadt Receives GAHSC Leadership Award
The Georgia Association of Homes and Services for Children (GAHSC) recently honored Mike Angstadt, Executive Director of Twin Cedars Youth Services, Inc. with the 2009 Leadership Award. Presented at the GAHSC conference in Savannah, the award is given to an individual who has made outstanding contributions by supporting and leading a child serving agency.

WellPoint and Anne Elizabeth Shepherd Home Partner for National Community Service Day
After months of planning, WellPoint associates partnered with the Anne Elizabeth Shepherd Home on Saturday, April 25 for their first ever National Community Service Day. The group of 40 dedicated local BlueCross BlueShield volunteers worked side-by-side with the girls living at the Anne Elizabeth Shepherd Home to landscape, upgrade the basketball court, paint a mural, paint the cottages where the residents live, and plant a seed garden at the Double Churches Road campus.

Twin Cedars Youth Services Announces Addition of CASA Program
Columbus, GA -- In Muscogee County, there were over 1,300 reports of child abuse and neglect and an average of 240 children in the foster care system in 2007. Currently, are more than 500,000 children in foster care in the United States today and all of these children become part of the court system, with a judge deciding their best interests. With many workers in the child welfare system often too overburdened to give detailed attention to each child, a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is assigned. Chattahoochee CASA, located in Columbus and serving Muscogee County, recently moved under the umbrella organization of Twin Cedars Youth Services, Inc.

Twin Cedars Opens Coleman Community Center
LaGrange, GA - Twin Cedars Youth Services, Inc. has scheduled the grand opening and dedication ceremony for the newly renovated Coleman Community Center on Thursday, September 4 at 10am. Located at 701 Lincoln Street, the 13,440 square foot facility will serve as the organization’s central headquarters housing Twin Cedars’ community counseling services, teen parenting and prevention programming, as well as the Children’s Advocacy Center of Troup County.
