The annual Child Abuse Awareness Program was held at the Coleman Community Center in LaGrange, GA. Guest speaker, Katie Jo Ballard, Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Children and Families, emphasized the importance of communities being involved in the prevention of child abuse. Peter Skandalakis, District Attorney, shared a personal story of his experiences with abused children in Troup County, and then invited county officials to re-sign the Child Abuse Protocol. Troup County DFCS staff members released balloons in remembrance of abused children. The program was followed by a reception with over 150 attendees.
